Hazel B. Hayes

Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Hazel Hayes, 94, who passed away on September 3, 2010 at 12:45 pm at Evangeline Oaks of Carencro. Reverend Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul and Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Hayes, a resident of Carencro, LA, was the daughter of the late Leseuse Begnaud and the former Judith Courquet. She was a member of St. Peter Church. She was a member of St. Anne's Society in Carencro. She was known for her cooking and love of family and friends. She patiently babysat for her many grandchildren. She loved traveling with her senior citizen friends, especially her best friend, Rebecca Prejean. She raised her nine kids at home while taking care of the house and assisting her husband with the family business, Hayes House Moving/Scott's House Moving. Her Sunday dinners will be missed by her family. She is survived by five daughters, Elaine Breaux and husband Sonny of Breaux Bridge, Sharlene Guillory and companion John Carrier of Arnaudville, Debbie Prejean and husband Tommy of Butte La Rose, Kathy Prejean and husband Benny of Butte La Rose, and Tammy Barker and husband Adonis of Henderson; two sons, L.J. Hayes and wife Judy of Broussard and Carroll Hayes and wife Nancy of Carencro; 26 Grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren; one brother, L.J. Begnaud and wife Edna Mae of Lafayette, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Livingston Hayes, one daughter Ruby Hayes, one son Emery Hayes, one daughter in law, Renella Hebert Hayes, one grandson Chad Hayes, one great grandson Talon Breaux, one great granddaughter, Emma Grace Breaux, and one sister, Gertrude Thomas. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm and on Tuesday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be L.J. Hayes, Carroll Hayes, L.J. Begnaud, Jr. and her son in laws. Pallbearers will be Scotty Hayes, Troy Hayes, Brad Hayes, Kevin Hayes, Ryan Breaux, Gabe Guillory, Cory Prejean, Bennett Prejean, Jr., Blane Prejean, Shannon Landry, and Arlen Barker.
