Hubert Sonnier

Funeral Services will be held at a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church for Hubert Sonnier, Sr., 84, who passed away on October 30, 2011 at 7:00 pm at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Reverend Tom Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, and Reverend Cedric Sonnier will be the Celebrants of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Mr. Sonnier, a resident of Scott, LA, was the son of the late Freddie Sonnier and the former Alida Richard. Hubert was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church where her served as Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #1286 of Lafayette. Hubert loved spending time at his camp in Holly Beach and was an avid supporter of SLI, USL and UL Lafayette sports. He also loved to attend basketball games at UL. Hubert was always at his children's and grand children's sporting events. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan M. Sonnier of Scott, LA; five daughters, Louise Credeur of Scott, Joan Sonnier of Scott, Mary Sonnier of Scott, Alida Bertholf and Dutch of Virginia, and Annie Thibodeaux of Scott; two sons, Hubert Sonnier, Jr. and his wife Sue of Scott, and Freddie Paul Sonnier of Scott; nine grandchildren, Laura Credeur, Colby Sonnier and wife Ashley, Cindy Sonnier, Karen Palombo and husband Jacob, Casey Sonnier, Blake Sonnier, Kate Sonnier, Claire Bertholf, and Catherine Bertholf; one great grandchild, Olivia Sonnier; and two brothers, Carol Sonnier and his wife Nina, and Jimmie Sonnier and wife Deanna. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Mildred Arceneaux. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Scott on Wednesday from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 6:30 pm Wednesday evening. Pallbearers will be Colby Sonnier, Casey Sonnier, Chris Sonnier, Johnny Herpin, Steve Hanks, and Jacob Palombo.
