Huey Patrick Regan Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church for Huey Patrick Regan Sr, 91, who passed away peacefully on September 24, 2021 at his residence with his daughters by his side. Rev. Kyle White, Pastor of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery Huey was born in Egan, LA, during the Great Depression in 1930, and was the second of nine children. He learned early in life to work on the family farm, as they grew most of their own food. When all of the chores were done, Huey and his brothers enjoyed playing tricks on the neighbors that often resulted in a spanking but was always worth the laughter. Throughout his life, those lessons of hard work and light-hearted pranks served him well. After returning from serving his country in the US Air Force, stationed in the Panama Canal; Huey married his love, Wilma Zaunbrecher in 1950 and were the proud parents of four children. They made their home in Lafayette, LA. Huey’s career began in the oilfield and after years of extremely hard and dirty work, he became part owner of an oilfield drilling fluid and equipment company. Huey and Wilma enjoyed bringing their children to visit “the woods” where he grew up and encouraged loving relationships with their grandparents and cousins. Huey demonstrated his devout faith through a life of humility, generosity, and Christian virtue; he and Wilma ensured their children were provided with a good, Catholic education. Huey loved fixing things, working with his hands, and old country & western music. He had a nickname for everyone and had a way of making each person he met feel special. Many of the simple pleasures in life made him happy. Though he suffered tragedies in losing his sons, Huey found joy in the birth of each grandchild and great-grandchild that followed. He had a kind and generous heart and never hesitated to extend a hand to someone in need. Waiting to get things done was not an option for Huey; if something needed to be done, he did it his way... which meant right away! He never put off for tomorrow what could be done today. Huey left a legacy of hard-work, devotion, love for nature, and zest for life; his presence will be dearly missed. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105 He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen “Kathy“ Comeaux and her husband Glenn, and Becky Regan and her husband Dale Langford; eight grandchildren who affectionately called him “ Popsie “; Erika Comeaux, Emily C. Hebert and her husband Tommy, Aimee M. Pizza, Michael Edgar, Tara Managan, Dr. Laura Managan and her husband Scott Schilling, Daniel and Aundreal Langford; nine great grandchildren, Avery and Arabelle Comeaux, Kori Greenwood, Louis, Nicholas, Natalie and Regan Pizza, Alexandria and Darien Langford and Baby Hebert on the way; three sisters, Lois R. Dietz, Catherine R. Lacombe, Pat R. Stoute (Fred) and a brother David Regan; sisters-in-law, Louella Regan, Evaline Regan, Mary Jo Z. Foreman (Carl) and Wanda Z. Launey; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Wilma, his two sons Randal Regan and Patrick Regan; his parents, George and Margaret Thoman Regan; his brothers Clifford, Donald, Rodney and James Regan. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Lafayette on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Tommy Hebert, Dale Langford, Steve Leger, Louis Pizza, Nicholas Pizza and Scott Schilling. Honorary Pallbearer will be Glenn Comeaux. Huey’s family would like to give special thanks to all who have contributed to his care throughout this journey, too numerous to name. Kathy and Becky would like to recognize Gladys East, our parents’ faithful Eucharistic Minister and friend, and Delores Babineaux who wonderfully cared for our dad when we couldn’t during the final six months of his life.
