James Begnaud

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. James "Jim" Begnaud, 72, at 11:00am on Monday March 13, 2017 at the Delhomme Funeral of Scott. Mr. Begnaud passed away on Thursday March 9, 2017 at 7:44am at Lafayette General Medical Center. Monsignor Russell Harrington will be Celebrant of the Mass with musical accompaniment by Charlotte Jagneaux and Phyllis Simar. Reading from scripture will be Alaine Martin and Sharlene Begnaud. Giftbearers will be Julie and Courtney Boutin. Musical Selections will be On Eagles Wings, Amazing Grace, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, and How Great Thou Art. Burial will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum. Mr. James, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Louis Begnaud and the former Winnie Dugas. "Jim" was great with his hands and enjoyed metal fabrication. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed telling jokes and making his friends and family laugh, and especially enjoyed the time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Martin Begnaud, four daughters, Kim Babineaux and husband Chris, Dana Smith and husband David, Jamie Boutin and husband Donnie, Tricia Thrasher and husband Gunner; 6 grandchildren, Leighton Babineaux, Dustin Babineaux, Julie Boutin, Casey Thrasher, Gunner Thrasher, and Courtney Boutin; 4 great grandchildren; Ashton Babineaux, Gabriel Thrasher, Ava Thrasher, Ahnaleigh Babineaux; 2 sisters, Theresa Delhomme and husband Jerry and Priscilla Begnaud and fiance Virgil Montoucet; and 3 brothers, Larry Begnaud and wife Erelda, Richard Begnaud and wife Kathe, and Raleigh Begnaud and wife Sharlene. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Scott on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday from 8:00AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Leighton and Dustin Babineaux, Christopher "Bubba" Nepveux, Jody Begnaud, Beau Begnaud, and Kendall Granger.
