Janice Denais

Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at St. Peter Church in Carencro for Janice 'Loris' Denais, 62, who passed away November 26, 2006 at her residence. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. Rev. Bill J. Melancon, Pastor of St. Peter Church of Carencro will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the services. Mrs. Denais, the daughter of the late Emile Cormier and the former Mabel Smith was a native of Lafayette and resided in Carencro. She was employed as a waitress with Mel's Diner for 30 years and was affectionately known as 'Alice'. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing and caring for her roses. Loris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband Woodrow 'Woody' Denais of Carencro; twin daughters, Janice Lavergne Foreman of Carencro and Julie Lavergne Peterson of Lafayette; one son, Shane J. Denais of Carencro; one step-daughter, Tammy Denais Nero of Carencro; one step-son, Brian J. Denais of LaPort, TX; three grandchildren, Blake Joseph Thibodeaux, Rocky Joseph Foreman and Kyle Garrett Cox; two step-grandsons, Blaine Joseph Denais and Ryder Dane Denais; one great-grandchild, Cayden Joseph Thibodeaux; one sister, Doris Racca of Lafayette; one brother, Dalton Cormier of New Iberia; and four half brothers, Norris Cormier, Morris Cormier, EJ Cormier and LJ Cormier all of Lafayette. She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Dorothy Landry. The family request visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of services at the Delhomme Bertrand Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Tuesday in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Blake J. Thibodeaux, Rocky J. Foreman, Kyle G. Cox, Brian J. Denais, Shane J. Denais and Blaine J. Denais.
