Jean Parker Voiles

Funeral Services will be held at 5:00PM on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Delhomme Funeral Home of Broussard for Jean Parker Voiles. Burial will take place in the Parker Family Cemetery, Andrews, NC. Mrs. Voiles was the daughter of the late Murray N. Parker and the former Addie Deal Parker. Born February 4, 1937, Jean Parker Voiles of Broussard passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 15, 2016 at the age of 79. Born in the log cabin her father built in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina. She was a devoted, loving, nurturing mother and wife. Jean's favorite hobby was reading historical novels and she especially loved fishing and camping with friends and family. As a military officer's wife, she proudly supported all of her husband's needs to serve his country for 24 years as a Major and helicopter pilot in the U.S. National Guard. The family would like to thank the staffs of Heart of Hospice, especially her nurse Katie McGuyver and Dr. Mwatibo; Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and Camelot of Broussard. The Voiles family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in her memory to the Special Olympics Association of Louisiana at laso.org. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Denise John and her husband, Joby of Lafayette; two sons, Jeffrey Thomas Voiles and his wife, Angie of Lafayette and Dale Alan Voiles of Hammond; six grandchildren, Ami Michelle Peyton-Kleiner and husband Stephen N. Insler, Catherine Denise Kleiner, Jacob Dennis John, Shelly Theresa Voiles, Leslie Ann White, and Amanda Claire Keen and husband, Derek Wayne; nine great grandchildren; Amelia Michelle Peyton-Kleiner, Summer Lynn Pavey, Aedan Arthur Pavey, Jordyn Ashley White, Nyla Rae White, Blaze Thomas White, Cidne Joseph Hawes, Ember Rose Keen and Kevin Blake Voiles; brother, Edward Richard Parker of Andrews, NC. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Dennis Wayne Voiles; and brothers, Vincent Neal, John Clifford and Billy Joe Parker. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 2:00PM until time of service.
