John Eric Hulin

A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Chapel of the Flowers for John Eric Hulin, 64, who passed away on March 3, 2024. Reverend Steve LeBlanc will conduct the funeral services. The burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Eric, who was fondly known as was born on January 10, 1960 to the late John D. “J. D.” and Camay LaHood Hulin. He was a 1979 graduate of New Iberia Senior High. Eric was known for his jovial and always jolly personality. He never met a stranger. He loved to joke and poke fun with all he knew and loved. He loved spending time on the water at his family’s camp at Cypermort Point. He loved to dance, his music, and attending rock concerts. It was a joy he shared for decades with his beloved late wife, Cindy. He loved to cook! He made the best jambalaya and rice dressing. He blessed many he loved with his gift in cooking. Eric wasn’t a particularly “religious” man; however, he had a deep faith in God and prayed for his loved ones daily. He lived out his faith by helping many that were less fortunate than him. He literally would give you the shirt off his back. He was always there for everyone; he was just a phone call away if you needed help. His family meant everything to him. His “joie de vivre” will always be remembered and treasured by all who knew and loved him. His memory will forever be etched in their hearts. The impact of his unique kindness will no doubt continue to inspire others that were touched by it. Eric was a hard worker his entire life. He began working at National Oilwell as a teenager until his late 20s. He then made a career change and went to work for several decades at Union Camp Corp. He then went back to work in the oil field where he worked for Baker Hughes Wireline until he became disabled and retired. After he retired, he cherished the time spent with his wife, children, and his beloved grandson, Taysom, who he adored. Eric and Cindy will no doubt be cheering Taysom on at all his ballgames! Eric is survived by his children, Travis John Hulin (Jennifer), Nicholas James Hulin (Amanda), and Danielle Hulin Breaux (Jonathan); grandson, Taysom James Hulin; siblings, Michael James Hulin, Michele René Hulin, and Gregory Anthony Hulin; godmother, Diane Touchet; godchildren, Emily Segura and Adam Mallet; special sister-in-law, Sarah Mallet; brother-in-law, Nathan James Barras; and a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends. Eric was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Cindy Marie Barras Hulin; parents, John and Camay Hulin; brother, Karl David Hulin; grandparents, John & Edna LaHood and GIles & Eatzia Norris Hulin; parents-in-law, Eldridge and Shirley Blanchard Barras; sisters-in-law, Shelley Barras and Denise Anderson; and brother-in-law, Larry Mallet. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Wednesday evening in the funeral home by the Men's Rosary Group of New Iberia. Visiting hours will continue on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 8:00 AM until the time of service. The Pallbearers will be Nicholas Hulin, Taysom Hulin, Jonathan Breaux, Eric Blanchard, Adam Mallet, Zachary Segura, Stephen Woods, Wayne Alexander, and Nathan Barras. Honorary Pallbearers will be Travis Hulin, Michael Hulin, Gregory Hulin, Larry Kohnke, Mitch Boutte, and Mark Cochran.
