John Michael Stansbury

Mike was a man of undeniable faith. He was called home on May 6th, 2020. His formidable wit never left you without a smile. His charitable heart could make a complete stranger feel like family, and his unparalleled work ethic and dazzling sales skills were second to none. If he ever called you ‘Brother’ or ‘Baby Girl’ it’s because he genuinely cared for each and every person that crossed his path (or possibly because he couldn’t remember all of our names), but either way he made enough room in his heart for each and every one of us. He could always leave people better than he found them. He was a man of God, a husband, a father, a brother, and a friend. He was a legend and a mentor in his field. He loved a beautiful day on the golf course, Sundays spent at church and in his kitchen; but the thing he loved more than anything in the world was being a PawPaw to his 2 precious grandsons. His amazing legacy will live on through all of the lives he touched. May we all take with us our favorite things about him and be those things each and every day until we meet him again. A special note of gratitude to his beloved friends—his brothers in Christ, his bible study crew, his early morning coffee posse, and all of his golfing buddies for bringing so many moments of joy to his life. Mr. Stansbury, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Clyde H. Stansbury Sr. and the former Dorothy Kristicevich. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ida Elaine Stansbury; daughter, Melissa Stansbury; daughter, Nicole Stansbury; daughter, Kayla Stansbury; his grandsons, Rhett Michael Taylor and Case Paul Purvis; brother, Benny Stansbury of Godeaux, LA and wife Garlan Guidroz; brother, Ronnie Stansbury Sr. of Sevierville, TN and wife Cheryl Davis Stansbury; sister, Kathy Stansbury Moy of Lafayette, LA; sister, Cindy Stansbury of Lafayette, LA; and brother, Clyde Stansbury, Jr. of Lafayette, LA and wife Carolyn Cook Stansbury. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Dorothy Stansbury; brother-in-law, John Moy; and brother-in-law, Glenn Daigle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Benny Stansbury, Ronnie Stansbury Sr., Clyde Stansbury Jr., Rhett Taylor, and Case Purvis.
