Judith "Judy" Rodgers

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in St. Theresa Catholic Church - Duson for Judith Garry Rodgers, 78, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at The Carpenter House of Acadiana, surrounded by her family. Fr. Steve LeBlanc will be celebrant of the Mass and officiate the funeral service. Lectors will be her granddaughters; Katelyn Hebert and Kortni Hebert. Interment will follow at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Cemetery - Duson. Judy was born on September 27, 1944, in Rayne. Judy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, embroidery, drawing and spending time with her family. She always loved telling jokes and making people laugh. She was an avid gardener and was always proud to show off her flowers. During her younger years, Judy enjoyed taking crabbing trips during the summer with her children. In her retirement years, she enjoyed visiting her children and enjoying home-cooked meals. Some of Judy's proudest moments were watching her children and grandchildren graduate, get married, and have children. She always looked forward to holidays because she knew she would be surrounded by her family. She truly loved life and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Judy is survived her two daughters, Kelly Hebert of Duson and Keri Hebert of Saint Martinville; one son, Kevin Thornton of Duson; two brothers, Gerald Garry of Duson and Roy Garry Jr. of Crowley; four sisters, Betty Talley of Duson, Patricia Thibodeaux of Duson, Linda Garry of Duson and Cindy Courville of Carencro; five grandchildren, Kyla Dunbar of Washington, Jevin Hebert of Lake Charles, Edmond Thornton of Baldwin, Katelyn Hebert of Saint Martinville and Kortni Hebert of Lake Charles; and four great-grandchildren, Julie Dunbar, Johnny Dunbar, Ja'kayla Thornton, and Edmond Thornton, Jr. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Anthony Deville; her parents Roy Garry, Sr. and Ruby Marie Lagneaux; sister, Gail Garry Gresham; and her infant brother, Roy Garry. Visitation will take place at Delhomme Funeral Home - Scott on Saturday, August 19, 2023 beginning at 8:00 AM. A Rosary will be led by her devoted sister, Cindy Courville, on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM in the funeral home. Visitation will continue, following the rosary, until 9:45 AM. Pallbearers will be Jevin Hebert, Chad Dunbar, Kurt Coates, and Albert Trahan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Garry, Roy Garry Jr, and Dean Resweber. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by our family to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Lafayette General Medical Center.
