Larry James Pierret

Funeral Services will be held at an 11:00 Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Larry James Pierret, 57, who passed away on February 6, 2011 at 9:30 pm at his residence. Father Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery. Mr. Pierret, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of Voorhies Paul Pierret of Lafayette, Louisiana and the former Ruth Rabalais of Lafayette, Louisiana. He loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. He was known by his friends and family for being kind hearted and giving. He received a miniature helmet with "Larry hang on buddy" inscribed on it by Billy Cannon of LSU. He is survived by his mother, Ruth R. Pierret of Lafayette, LA; three sisters, Elaine Pierret Maeso and husband Joaquin of Lafayette, Jeannie Pierret Poirrier and husband Uray of Lafayette, LA and Julie Pierret Crawford and husband Jamie of League City, TX; two brothers, Glynn Pierret and wife Cheryl of Duson, LA, and Pat Pierret and wife Susan of McKinney, TX; twelve nieces and nephews, Joni Constantine, Jana Poirrier, Jenny Poirrier, Janie Poirrier, Jacqueline Poirrier, Melissa Salvatierra, James Crawford, Alexus Crawford, Zach Pierret, Amber Pierret, John Paul Pierret, and Gabriel Pierret. He was preceded in death by his father, V.P. Pierret, and one niece Jennifer Gautreaux. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Tuesday from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and on Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brandon Constantine, James Crawford, Peter Salvatierra, Zack Pierret, Mike Sonnier, and Reid Castille. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Pothier, Clay Baudoin, Jose Diaz, Glynn Pierret, Pat Pierret, Uray Poirrier, and Jamie Crawford. The family would like to send a special thanks to Jenny Beach and Carolyn from Hospice of Acadiana and a very special thanks to Joni, Jenny, Janie and Jana Poirrier for taking care of Larry through his battle with cancer.
