Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Trinity Bible Church for Larry Alvin Smith, 63, who passed away on January 4, 2012 at 9:26 am. Reverend Dennis Malcolm, Pastor of Trinity Bible Church, will conduct the funeral services. Mr. Smith, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Alvin Francis Smith of Jennings, Louisiana and the former Patricia Treadway of Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was an Expert Giver, Poet, Songwriter, Golfer ' Winner of Evangeline Four Ball, as well as numerous other golf tournaments, Coach, Caregiver, Cowboy, Military Policeman, Outstanding Citizen, Marketing Extraordinaire, Charter Member and Elder of Trinity Bible for over 30 years, Mentor and Leader of Numerous Bible Studies, President of Acadiana Bottling and Vending Company, Acadiana Promotions, Quintess Catering, Skyfest, Acadiana Resource Management, Inc., Louisiana Soft Drinks Association, Boys' Club, VitaBev, Vice President of Louisiana Bottlers Association, Started the Acadiana Food Bank, Food Net Drive, Youth Soccer League, Missionary to Haiti and Guatemala, Founder and Owner of Grill Now Restaurant LLC, Owner and Operator of Aqua Bella Saltwater Solutions, Writer, Creator and Parody Cartoonist of Acadiana Journal, Founder, Contributor and Organizing Manager of Hope for Kids, Founder of The Recycling Foundation, Prime Contributing Factor in bringing much of Acadiana's Entertainment including the Louisiana Icegators Hockey Team, American South Conference Basketball, Concerts including The Eagles, James Taylor, Elton John, Rascall Flatts and Cher, Creator of Numerous Soft Drink Products, including the 'Louisiana Pepsi', Zydecola, Bullwinkle's Vitamin Soda Pop, Guarana, Chairman of CORP, Citizens Organization for Responsible Planning, Cajun Heartland USA, Acadiana Fair and Trade Show, Vermillion Ville Membership Campaign, Gateway Fundraising Committee, RMI, Reciprocal Ministries International, Member of the Cajundome Commission, Kiwanis Club, Oakborne Country Club for over 45 years, Organizer of the Culinary Classic, Partner of Right Note Records, Major Donor of Food Net, Ulster Project, Rotary Club of Lafayette and other Numerous Charities, Louisiana Representative for Bedminster, USL Foundation Board of Trustee, and many more small to large scale philanthropy. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra Kay Harrison Smith and four daughters, Alison Ray, and husband Richard of Houston, TX, Rebecca Ventre and husband Christopher of Port Allen, LA, Jessica Cook and husband Patrick of Baton Rouge, LA, and Elizabeth Smith of Crowley, LA; one son, Jason Smith and wife Jamie of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Kaylee and Presley Ray, Maya Ventre, Sean Patrick and Mckayla Cook; one sister, Bobbie Smith of Lafayette, LA and two brothers, Dennis Smith and Dale Smith, both of Lafayette, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday at Trinity Bible Church from 9:00 am until time of service. Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Richard Ray, Christopher Ventre, Patrick Cook, Ryan Semmes and Mark Tolson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org in the name of Sandra Kay Smith Honorary Tribute Fund.
