A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2024 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Lauren Elizabeth Womack, 38, who passed away on October 25, 2024. Reverend Anthony Anala, SVD, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Honorary pallbearers Jason Arceneaux, Howard Brown, Bradyen Womack, Cameron and Andrew Nguyen and AAron Paul Dick. Burial will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. She is preceded in death by her mother Carla Elizabeth Ragusa Valdin; grandparents Papa Carlo Ragusa, Granny Elizabeth “Betty” Palassie Ragusa, Papa Louis Valdin Sr., Mamaw Dorthy Bordelon Valdin, Winona Benoit, and Harold Arceneaux. She is survived by her service dog, Sydney “Princess Fluffy Bottoms” Womack; husband, Troy D. Womack; father-in-law, Earl Womack; mother-in-law, Molly Womack; sister-in-law, Natalie Boutte and her husband, Doug, and their children, Abbie, Aubre, and Finn Boutte. Father, Louis Valdin Jr.; step-mother, Robin “Mom” Valdin; step-sisters, Dr. Heather Valdin Dempsey and Amanda Valdin; Step-grandparents “PeePaw” Robert Rotherham Sr. and “Grandmaw” Brenda Rotherham; aunts, Sheri Ledet Lepine, Gina Ragusa Nyguyen, Michelle Lirette, and Margaret Valdin, step-aunts Carrie Rotherham and Alison Matorana; uncles, Henri Valdin and Curren Lirette; step-uncle, Robert Rotherham Jr.; cousins Jessica Ragusa Numes and son Dominic Numes, Natalie Ragusa, Cameran and Andrew Nguyen, Steven and Andrw Lirette, Monique Valdin, Ben and Brade Rotherham, and Sara Loup. Friends, Annie Gaubert Wicks, Ashlily Mayeaux Neklutin, and Particia Andrus – caregiver and friend; Mama Pearl Arceneaux and son, Jason. Lauren was a graduate of St. Mary’s Dominican High School, Summa Cum Laude. She was a recipient of the Veritas Award for Truth, Prayer, Study, Community, and Service for the Class of 2004. Bachelor of Science from Loyola University New Orleans, and a Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Southern University. She was employed by the City of Lafayette Consolidated Government, as well as a volunteer for Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council. The Womack Family would like to thank each and every personnel that worked with Lauren. Your kindness, caring, and friendship are most appreciated, as well as the governor’s office. Lauren, liked a good book and loved to have conversations on various topics, and also enjoyed painting. Travel was what she liked, mostly visiting historical sites and enjoyed going to the beach. She loved helping others. Others were and still are inspired by her. Donations in her memory may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), in lieu of flowers.
