Laurent Mire

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014, at a 1:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, for Laurent Mire, 95, who passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his home in Lafayette. Entombment will be in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum. Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Craig Mire and Beverly Hebert. Altar Servers will be Aaron Mire and Wesley Mire. He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Leona Hebert Mire; two children, Beverly Hebert and her husband, Robert and Robert Mire and his wife Mary Ann; six grandchildren, Renee' Credeur, Rachel Mire, Chad Hebert, Craig Mire, Britt Hebert and Crissy Kennedy; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Amedia Bower. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theogene and Annelie LeBlanc Mire; and eight siblings, Mable Whittington, Lydia Hebert, Roman Mire, Ellis Mire, Sr., Clovis Mire, Alfred Mire, Alexander Mire and Curley Mire. Laurent Mire was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a respected member of the community, a gardener, farmer and mainly remembered by many as a carpenter. He was the epitome of kindness and ethics. He was loved and respected and will always remain in the hearts of many. The family requests that visiting hours be observed in Delhomme Funeral Home in Maurice on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Robert Mire, Robert Hebert, Chad Hebert, Roman Mire, Britt Hebert and Craig Mire. Honorary Pallbearers will be Vernon Credeur, Kyle Kennedy and Clifton Champagne. The Mire family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Darrin Menard and Dr. Samuel H. Shuffler, for the care they gave him in the last years of his life.
