Layne DuBose

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Chapel of the Flowers for Layne DuBose, 66, who passed away on November 14, 2024. Reverend Scott Fletcher will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Layne, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late J.K. DuBose and the former Shirley Sarver. Layne was a 1980 USL graduate and proudly served on the student government council. He went on to run the daily operations of the family business at The Corner Pantry. He loved and lived “The Cowboy Life”. He prided himself on being an avid horseman and dedicated himself to serve on the board of directors of many associations. Layne was the past president of the Louisiana Quarter Horse association and sat on the board of LASH (Louisiana Stock Horse Association) for over 10 years. In his younger years, he competed in saddle bronc in LCRA, Tri-State and intercollegiate rodeo and represented the saddle bronc riders on their boards. When Layne could not be found in the Rodeo Arena judging an event or helping out a young competitor go for “8”, he was in the practice pen and coaching bitty basketball or baseball. But his biggest smile was always for his family steadfast and strong. His legacy will live on through his loving family and his cowboy friends… He is survived by his wife, Connie Arceneaux DuBose; children, Sky Abshire and husband, Cory, and Jake DuBose; grandson, Ace Abshire; sisters, Debra Sonnier and husband, Carl, and Donna Whitehurst; nieces and nephews, Cari (Josh) Brattin, Dillon Fontenot, Hannah (Josie) Fontenot, Callie Brattin, Sean DuBose, Wiil DuBose, Adam Sonnier, Arielle (Stephen) Conrad, Matthew Whitehurst, Gregory Arceneaux, and Michelle (Juan) Izquierdo. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dusty Ross DuBose, and brother, Kenneth DuBose. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 1:45 PM. Prayers and short stories will begin at 12:30 PM.
