Leroy Joseph Miguez

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 26, 2015 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church for Leroy J. Miguez, 81, who passed away on October 22, 2015. Father Louis Richard, Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Con-Celebrant will be Father Keith Landry. Giftbearers will be Alexis Miguez, Natalie Miguez and Hayden Miller. Readers will be Jackie Landry and Darrel Miguez. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery. Leroy, a resident of Broussard, was the son of the late Noah Miguez and the former Marie Baudoin. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Miller and her husband, Cecil; two sons, Kevin Miguez and his wife, Natalie and Stacy Miguez; grandchildren, Chris Miller, Damian and Dillon Miguez and Alexis Miguez; step grandchildren, A.J. and Aleah Gaudin; great grandchildren, Hayden and Kahne Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Nella G. Miguez; sisters, Adez Hebert,and Velma Breaux; brother, Thomas Miguez; granddaughter, Heather Miller. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Broussard on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 10:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Kevin Miguez, Roy Landry, Cecil Miller, Chris Miller, Ray Bourque, Greg Garcia and Kahne Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be A.J. Gaudin, Darrel Miguez, and Gene Garcia. Leroy drove a school bus for the Lafayette Parish School Board for 25 years. He owned and operated Miguez's Food Center in Broussard for over 40 years. Leroy served the Broussard Community in various positions, 1966 to 1982 he served on the Broussard City Council, 1982 to 1991 he served as Mayor of Broussard and 1994 to 1998 he was a Councilman at Large, Broussard Fire Department from 1961 to present. He is a member of the Woodmen of the World, Chapter 448 Broussard. He coached and sponsored little league baseball.
