Lesley Kately

A Home Going Celebration was held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10:00 am, in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Brother Lesley “Bang" Kately, 69, of Lafayette, Louisiana, who passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2025. He was born on October 30, 1955, and raised on Banker in his early years before building a life defined by family, faith, service, and hard work. In the 1970s, Lesley proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. A skilled marksman and strong believer in the Second Amendment, he carried with him a deep sense of discipline and patriotism throughout his life. After his service, he worked as an iron worker in Houston, Texas, before returning to Louisiana to marry the love of his life, Paulette Marie Williams. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage, two children, and three grandchildren who were the pride of his life. Lesley went on to build a long career as a professional truck driver, traveling across the United States and Canada for over 30 years before retiring in 2016. He truly loved the open road-finding freedom and peace behind the wheel, and collecting countless stories from his journeys across the country. At home, Lesley was known for his passion for BBQ, his enthusiasm for football, and his lifelong enjoyment of wrestling. A lover of history, he often immersed himself in stories of the past. His faith was central to his life-he read the Bible often, cherished Gospel music, and lived as a man who loved God. Lesley is survived by his wife of 47 years, Paulette Marie Williams Kately; daughter Angela Marie Kately Eaglin (James Sr.) of Lafayette, LA; son Isaiah Paul Kately of Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughter Megan Wilridge of Lafayette, LA; grandsons Randy Wilridge Jr. and Juelz Eaglin of Lafayette, LA; sisters Mariah Jacob and Dena Kately of St. Martinville, LA, and Augustine Dauphine of Houston, TX; brothers Michael Joseph Kately (Patricia) and Ray Allen Kately (Sue), both of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and other beloved family members who now welcome him home. Lesley will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal brother, and faithful servant of God. His legacy lives on in the love he shared with his family and the countless memories they will carry in their hearts forever. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 8:30 am to 9:45 am. Final rites of internment following the service at Calvary Mausoleum, 355 Teurlings Drive, Lafayette, Louisiana.
