Lillard E. Payne

Masonic Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2015 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Lillard E. Payne, 92, who passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana. Burial will take place in Fountain Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Lillard, a resident of Lafayette, LA was the son of the late Lillard E. Payne and the former Essie Booth. He graduated High School and attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA then served his country in the U.S. Marines Corps having served during World War II. He was devoted to his business and next to his family, his greatest love was masonry. Lillard was a member of John of Patmos Tabernacle #42, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest, LA York Rite College #99, St. Paul Red Cross of Constantine, St. Charles Red Cross of Constantine, Habibi Shriners and Scottish Rite Valley of Lake Charles. He was a past member of Grand Commander of Knights Templar of LA, Illusions Grand Master of Cryptic Masons of LA, Grand High Priest of Capitular Masons of LA, District Deputy Grand Master of District #11, Hope Lodge #145, M.E. Girard Lodge, Exemplar Lodge #471 and other honors too numerous to list. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Leigh P. Gomez; his sons, Cleveland Arthur Payne and Sandy Lynn Payne and his wife Suzanne; his grandchildren, Ryan (Elizabeth) Kevin (Laikyn) and Jenna Gomez, Barrett Payne (Cassie), Ainslie and Macie Thibodeaux and Ashley Cardwell and his eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of forty four years Myrtle Jane Nevels Payne; his sister, Maxine P. Flowers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 2:00 pm. until 9:00 pm. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 9:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Ryan and Kevin Gomez, Barrett Payne, Bobby Duhon, Don Hataway, and Paul Nassour.
