Louise D. Broussard

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 23, 2024 in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church - Maurice for Louise Broussard, 104, who passed away on February 20, 2024. Reverend Paul Bienvenu, Pastor, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum. Louise graduated from Maurice High School in 1936. She completed a Business Course at Spencer Business College of Lafayette in 1942. After her studies, Louise was employed as a bookkeeper for G.H. Boudreaux, a sweet potato grower and processer in Sunset, La. She returned to Maurice in 1949 and married Edward. Louise also worked for several years as a Librarian for the Maurice branch of the Vermilion Parish Library System. Louise and Edward were also the proprietors of a General Merchandise store in the town of Maurice. In her retirement years, she also worked as a bookkeeper at Fred’s Plumbing and Electric in Maurice. Louise was a voracious reader and traveled the world through books. Louise, a resident of Maurice, was the daughter of the late Leonce Dartez and the former Bella Comeaux. She is survived by her sons, Paul Edward (Carey) Broussard, Ben (Shelley) Broussard, and Leon (Karin) Broussard; grandchildren, Meredith Sorokwasz, Elizabeth Haeder, Philip Broussard, Brennan Broussard; great grandchildren, Bella Sorokwasz, Marshall Sorokwasz, Mazie Haeder, Caroline Haeder, and Ari Broussard; one sister, Emma Varn, and sister-in-law, Alice Schroder. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Broussard, and one brother, Harold Dartez. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Maurice on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:45 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 12: 00 PM in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brennan Broussard, Philip Broussard, Mike Dartez, Greg Varn, Marshall Sorokwasz, and Gerald Dartez. Honorary Pallbearer will be Matt Dartez.
