Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2025 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Chapel of the Flowers for Lourdes D. Guidry, 82, who passed away on November 10, 2025. Deacon Art Bakeler will conduct the funeral services. Born in Havana Cuba, Lourdes carried with her the warmth, strength, and spirit of her island home throughout her life’s journey. Her early years in Cuba instilled in her a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and the beauty of simple joys—values she continued to share after making Lafayette, Louisiana her home. She carried the proud spirit of her Cuban roots throughout her life, blending them with the charm and hospitality of her beloved Louisiana. Settling in Lafayette, Louisiana, Lourdes became a beloved member of the community, known for her generous heart, gentle wisdom, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She built a life filled with family, faith, and hospitality. She was a devoted wife to the late Rene F. Guidry of Lafayette La, a loving mother to Lourdes A. Guidry, Mary Hollier, Mathilde Lyon, Robert Guidry, Rene Guidry Jr., and Elizabeth LeBlanc. A cherished grandmother to Michael Guidry, Michelle Rush St. Pierre, Christopher Rush, George Louis Hollier, Ashley Lyon Stites, Elizabeth Lyon Walther, Matthew Lyon, Ashley Blanchette, Blake Guidry, Catherine Guidry, Nikolas LeBlanc, and Sydney LeBlanc Vela; and 5 Great Grandchildren, Knox Guidry, Daniel St. Pierre, Gemma LeBlanc, Sara Vela, and Emma Blanchette. Lourdes leaves behind a loving sister, Maria Lyons of Denham Springs (whom she spoke to every single day) and several nieces and nephews. Her love and devotion extended beyond her family - she was a loyal friend and a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lourdes was known for her kindness, strength, and joyful heart. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her laughter always present. Whether cooking a favorite Cuban dish, sharing stories, or comforting others with her gentle wisdom, she made everyone feel like family. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Through every challenge, Lourdes leaned on her belief in God and her deep sense of purpose. Her strength and serenity continue to inspire all who knew her. Lourdes Díaz Guidry’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, As she leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and faith. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. Mrs. Guidry, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Gil Diaz and the former Mercedes Ramos. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Rene Guidry. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
