Malcolm N. "Mac" Cappel

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p m Monday, August 26, 2013, in Delhomme Bertrand Chapel of the Flowers for Malcolm N.”Mac” Cappel Jr., 66, who passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 in Lafayette, LA with his family by his side. Funeral Services will be conducted by Deacon Denis LaCroix of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rayne, LA. Interment will take place in the Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mac was a native of Lafayette, LA, the son of the late Malcolm Cappel Sr. and Billie Cheves Cappel. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School. He attended Louisiana State University for two years and graduated from University of Southwest Louisiana, but always claimed LSU as his alma mater. Mac was employed by Bristol Myers Squibb as a senior pharmaceutical sales representative for 33 years. He was very proud of the fact that he was able to enter retirement at age 59. Mac coached youth baseball and football for many years and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Mac married the love of his life, Rayne Williams Cappel, on July 27, 1968, and they just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Mac loved life, traveling, and spending time with his family. Mac and Rayne have traveled the world, but his favorite place to be was in the Smokey Mountains where he was able to spend time with his family last month. Anyone who knew Mac knew he was a diehard LSU fan and football season was his favorite time of the year. Mac is survived by his wife, Rayne Cappel of Lafayette; two daughters, Chase Cappel of Lafayette, Blair Cappel Johnson and her husband, Drew of Lafayette; two sons, Brice Cappel of Lafayette and his significant other Melissa Lachney, Chance Cappel and his wife Kristi of Alexandria; one brother, Jamie Cappel and his wife Tina of Lafayette; and five grandchildren, Teal Lavespere, Gage and Remi Cappel, Finley and Ella Johnson. Mac was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA on Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 6:30 pm in the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 10:00 am until time of service. Pallbearers will be Drew Johnson, Blake Williams, Raymond J. Dunn, Ross Cappel, Larry Hornback and Ross Kinney. Honorary Pallbearer is Daniel Gary.
