Mary Ann Rozycki Champion

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church for Mary Ann Rozycki Champion, 65, who passed away on December 24, 2012 Lafayette General Medical Center. Her life was one spent giving selflessly of herself to her family and friends. Reverend Louis Richard, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, as well as her brother, Reverend Isadore Rozycki will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Mary Ann was born in Bremond, Texas on September 18, 1947 to Isidore and Emile Rozycki. She was born between brothers Isidor and Emil, with whom she shared lifelong relationships of love and friendship. Mary Ann received her high school education from Bremond High School. After high school, she went on to earn a Master's Degree in Library Science from Texas Women's University; later, she earned a second Master's Degree in Audio Visual Science from the University of South Carolina. Mary Ann married Fred Champion, Jr. in 1976 entering into a loving marriage that would last all of her life. With her husband, Mary Ann raised three sons, Michael, Kristopher and Nathan, and greatly contributed to building a happy family with her warm affection, her wonderful sense of humor, and her endless patience. When her family-raising days were completed, Mary Ann and Fred embarked on several nation-wide tours of America in their newly acquired RV. These years were spent in states from California to New Hampshire, viewing great sights such as Carlsbad Caverns, Yosemite National Park, and experiencing the turning of the leaves in New England. Outside of her home, Mary Ann gave her time generously to the Lafayette Ladies' Civitan Club, a charitable organization with a focus on aiding those with developmental disabilities. Her many activities within Civitan helped spread awareness of the organization's mission and offered aid to many people with these disabilities and their families. Additionally, Mary Ann was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church for many years. She is survived by her husband, Fred Champion, Jr.; her children, Michael, Krsitopher, and Nathan Champion; grandsons, Micah, Timothy, and Maximillian Champion; and her brothers Isidore and Emil Rozycki. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isidore and Emily Rozycki. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 pm on Friday. Pallbearers will be Michael, Kristopher, Nathan, Micah, Timothy and Floyd Champion.
