Mary Lou B. Hebert

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mary Lou B. Hebert, 89, who passed away on July 17, 2017. Mrs. Hebert, a resident of Broussard, was the daughter of the late William Bailey and the former Mary Hamilton. After completing High School, she attended Soule Business College in New Orleans, LA. and began working as a secretary. While working in her craft, she got married and moved to Abbeville, LA. During this time she decided to attend Cosmetology School in Los Angeles, CA. Upon completion she established the first Merle Norman store in Abbeville. After 25 years and the death of our father, the store was sold and as a single mother of four she relocated to Lafayette, LA. It was here that she was employed until her retirement (1992) with the City of Lafayette/Environmental Services. A few years later she decided to return to work, mostly because she enjoyed it. She worked with Affiliated Blind of Lafayette/Project Cope until her second retirement at age 80 in 2006. She enjoyed visiting with family, friends, neighbor’s especially family outings. Mary Lou especially enjoyed spoiling her "rescue" dog, Billy, but most she loved her visits from her two grandchildren whom she loved so much. As her health declined, she moved to live out her final years to Camelot of Broussard. It was there she met her "fiance", Mr. Willy Silard. Our family was blessed to see and experience her true happiness in her final two years. Our family would like to thank the entire staff of Camelot for their compassionate care given throughout her time there, especially throughout her "final journey". She is survived by her daughters, Liz Vigre and husband, Mike and Catherine Hebert; two grandchildren, Jason C. Hebert and Bailey Miller and her "fiance", Willy Salard. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Cleve Hebert; son, Michael Hebert, daughter, Carolyn Hebert; brothers, Frank, Jack, Billy and Forest "Big Shot" Bailey. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 9:00AM until time of service.
