Mary Darden Malone

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at a 3:00p.m. service at Church of the Covenant Methodist Church for Mary Sue Darden Malone, 73, who passed away, surrounded by her family, on Monday, March 23, 2009 at her residence in Lafayette. Brother Chris Blanchard, Pastor of Church of the Covenant Methodist Church, will be the Celebrant of the Memorial Services. Her son Michael Malone, will celebrate Sue's life. Pat Battaglia will be the Organist for the services. The music Sue has requested to be played is; "In the Garden", "Softly and Tenderly", "I'll Fly Away", and "Amazing Grace". Sue was a member of Church of the Covenant Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Darden. Sue Graduated from Lubbock High School, Lubbock, Texas, in May 1954. Sue married her soul mate, Vernon Ray Malone, in Lubbock, Texas on November 29, 1956. Sue is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Vernon Ray Malone; two daughters, Lori Anne Boatner and Lisa Diane John and her husband Steve; one son, Michael Eldridge Malone and his wife Denise; three sisters, Diana Nettles of Lubbock, Texas; Janis Crismon Mountain Home, Texas; Linda Pimlott of Arlington, Texas and two brothers; David Darden of Lubbock, Texas and Chuck Darden of Shallowater, Texas. Sue and Vernon have four grandchildren: Jennifer Thomas, Ryan, Jeremy and Spencer Malone and two great grandchildren: Alyssa and Sadie Thomas. Sue has many nieces and Nephews and countless other loved ones. Sue was a loving wife and caring mother. Her family was the love of her life. This was evident in the home she kept. She loved cooking for her family. Sue enjoyed capturing her family's events and growth in photographs. Her home is a museum of history for the Malone and Darden family. She was an excellent gardener and she had a fondness for arts and crafts. She specialized in making quilts or afghans for family and friends. She loved fishing at their retirement home in Lake Palestine Texas. She and Vernon came out of retirement to be closer to their children. All who knew and loved Sue will dearly miss her. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28th, 2009 from 2:00 PM until service time at Church of the Covenant Methodist Church of Lafayette.
