Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 in Covenant Methodist Church for Mary Virginia Wade, 77, who passed away on November 16, 2023. Reverends Scott Bullock and Chris Blanchard will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Virginia, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Arthur Hoffpauir and the former Georgia "Tootsie" Hoffpauir. Mary Virginia Hoffpauir Wade, known by friends and family as Virginia or Jenny, passed away on November 16 at her residence in Lafayette. She was born on May 14, 1946 in Lake Charles, grew up in Sulphur and her early years were marked by significant milestones and cherished relationships. She met the love of her life, Michael Wade, while attending USL on a blind date. Following her junior year, Virginia transferred to McNeese and graduated from there. Once she completed her college education, she and Mike married on July 28, 1968. After graduating, Virginia embarked on a fulfilling career in education. She began teaching and dedicated 34 years to shaping young minds, with 33 of those years spent teaching Kindergarten at Green T. Lindon. It was during this time that she pursued her master's degree and achieved numerous accomplishments throughout her long career. Even in retirement, she continued to contribute her knowledge and passion by tutoring at Green T. Lindon for several years. Beyond her professional endeavors, Virginia found joy and fulfillment in her personal life. She was blessed with twins, Kyle and Kara, who brought her immeasurable happiness. Her faith played a significant role in her life, and she was an active member of Covenant Methodist Church. She also took pleasure in social activities such as playing Pokeno and being part of a home demonstration group. Above all, Virginia’s favorite hobby was her cherished family, especially her beloved grandchildren, Wyatt, Amber, and Olivia. She joyfully attended countless school and band functions, ensuring that she was present for every milestone and celebration. Virginia will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy as a devoted wife, accomplished educator, proud mother of twins, adoring grandmother, and active member of her community will continue to inspire. Her memory will forever be cherished. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heart of Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Virginia’s final days. Their compassionate services provided comfort not only to her but the entire family as well. She is survived by her children, Kyle Wade, and Kara Wade; grandchildren, Wyatt Leonards, Amber Wade, and Olivia Leonards as well several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike Wade; siblings, Olive Faye Hansen and A.J. Hoffpauir. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Covenant Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
