Neddie Marie Dartez

Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 1, 2010 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for Neddie Marie Dartez, 81, who passed away on September 28, 2010 at 3:24PM at Maison du Monde Living Center in Abbeville. Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Mrs. Dartez, a resident of Maurice, LA, was the daughter of the late Theodore Broussard of Abbeville, Louisiana and the former Lucia Ledet of Bayou Lafourche, Louisiana. Neddie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family before herself. She loved books and helping others in need, so when a part time job for the Maurice branch library opened, it was the perfect job for her. It enabled her to spend time reading and more importantly, lend an ear to many a patron. She gave her life to Christ as a young woman and served Him until the end. She loved the Lord and always started her day in prayer and reading the scriptures. She led many small Bible studies and prayer meetings. She was involved in the Catholic charismatic renewal where she served on the Word Team. Her devotion to prayer and intercession changed the lives of many people. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Rachel D. Trahan and husband Johnny of Maurice, and Arlene D. McDowell and husband Patrick of Lafayette; two sons, Roger Dartez and wife Debbie of Maurice, and Fabian Dartez of Maurice; four grandchildren, Ryan Trahan, Ashley Trahan, Amber McDowell, and Kelly McDowell; four great grandchildren, Lauren Gremillion, Landon Gremillion, Zackary Trahan, and Mackenzie Trahan; one sister, Jeorgiana Stauffer of Abbeville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gabriel S. Dartez, Jr.; two sisters, Laura Mae Dehart, Alma Trahan; six brothers, Hirahm Broussard, Minos Broussard, J.P. Broussard, Weston Broussard, Nolan Broussard, "Rank" Broussard . The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice Thursday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Roger Dartez, Fabian Dartez, Johnny Trahan, Patrick McDowell, Ryan Trahan, and David Gremillion.
