Noel Rachou Douglas

Mass of Christian Burial for Noel Rachou Douglas, 79, will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Reverend Howard Blessing as the Celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Cathedral of St. John Mausoleum. Mrs. Douglas was a native of Pointe A La Hache, LA and a resident of Lafayette and was the daughter of the late Bernard Robert Dragon, Sr. and the former Gladys Cosse' Dragon. She was a Valedictorian of Woodlawn High School in Braithwaite, LA, attended Loyola University in New Orleans, graduated in 1958 in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology at University of Louisiana Lafayette (formerly S.L.I.)., owned and operated The Music Mart retail store and La Louisianne Records and Recording Studio, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and Newman Club. She taught for many years in Elementary Education. One of the most impressive ways she inspired her students was to tell them "there is no such thing as I can't" - and this is how she lived her life. She is survived by her husband, Carl Douglas, Jr.; two daughters; Tammie Rachou Greiner and Yvonne Rachou Kirila of Marietta, GA; two sons, Carol Joseph Rachou, Jr of Washington, D.C. and David Michael Rachou and his wife Traci Bonin of Lafayette, LA; three grandsons, Ross Joseph Kirila, Matthew Stephen Greiner and Thomas Jonathan Greiner; two brothers, Perry Louis Dragon of Houston, TX and Bernard Robert Dragon, Jr. of Lafayette, LA. She was preceded in death by her former husband Carol Joseph Rachou, Sr. Pallbearers will be Perry Dragon, Bernard Dragon, Jr., Carol Rachou, Jr., David Rachou, Karl Kirila, Ross Kirila, Bill Quilter and Gregg Douglas. Jerry Sibille will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Eugene Brierre, Dr. Daniel Fry and her loving caretakers, Alma Duhon, Edna Broussard, Mary Noel, Jeanette Williams, Acadiana Hospice and Pallative Care, Rose Campbell and her staff, dear friends, Anne Breaux Thornton and Vicki Truxillo for their love and support.
