Philip Brennen Benoit

Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 2, 2006 at Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Philip Brennen Benoit, age 55, who passed away on May 30, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings, Louisiana. Monsignor Douglas Courville of St. Jules Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral services. Survivors include his parents, Paul and Bertha Benoit, both of Houma; two daughters, Alison Benoit Howard and husband, Tim, of Lafayette and Kellie Sue Benoit, of Nashville, TN; a former spouse, Susan Woollen, of Lafayette; two sisters, Cynthia Gaudet and husband, Rodney, of Houma and Karen Blanchard and husband, Daniel, of Houma; one brother, Paul Benoit and wife, Son Hui, of Covington; five nieces and nephews, Jeff Gaudet and wife, Cherise, Ryan Gaudet and wife, Andie, Kim Blanchard and fianc', Ian, Danielle Blanchard and fianc', Kyle, and Brittany Blanchard; one great niece; five great nephews; and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Philip and Patricia Miller, and paternal grandparents, Honore' and Elvire Benoit. 'Phil' as he was known by his family and friends was born February, 15, 1951 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He grew up in Houma, Louisiana and later moved to Lafayette, where he resided most of his life. Phil worked in Lafayette as an oilfield salesman for twenty-seven years. Having been an amazing athlete in high school he continued his athleticism throughout his life. He had a great love for tennis and would find any excuse to play a game. Phil also enjoyed traveling with his daughters. He was an avid duck hunter and enjoyed going to the farm with is family. He had an enthusiastic spirit and enjoyed helping others with special needs; this included volunteer work for the Special Olympics. Phil never met a stranger and will be dearly missed by family and friends. The family requests visitation be observed from noon until 9:00 pm today and from 8:00 am Friday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Louis Maraist, John Talbot, Mitch Moore, Mike Hopkins, Craig Molaison, and Jeff Hargroder. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in the name of Philip Brennen Benoit to the Junior League of Lafayette for No Fear, No Future, 504 Richland Avenue, Lafayette, Louisiana 70508.
