R.J. Boudreaux

Heaven has a new resident. R.J. Boudreaux died Sunday, September 15, 2007 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A viewing and remembrance gathering will be held at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive, Sunday, September 16 from 5:00 pm. until 10 pm. Then again on Monday, September 17 from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. A memorial service, with ashes scattering will be held at a later date at Henderson Basin, R.J.'s favorite fishing spot. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jane Boudreaux; and his two sons, Ronald and his wife, Debbie of New Iberia, and David Wayne and his wife, Pauline of Lafayette. Papop, as his seven grandchildren so lovingly called him, will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Louis and his wife, Karli of Las Vegas, NV, Mathieu and Phillip of Lafayette, Gina, Natalie and Nicole of New Iberia, and Adam and his wife, Ashley of Arizona; his brother, Charles Boudreaux and his wife, Carol of Lafayette; sister, Florence Boudreaux and her husband, Wayne of Broussard; and Rose Adami of Poche Bridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annaise and Joseph Boudreaux, and a sister, Mona Duhon of Parks. R.J. will also be fondly remembered, and sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Curley and Thelma Hebert of Carencro, Ronnie and Gloria Granger of Scott, Leroy and Azelie Hebert, and Mary (Dot) Campbell of Lafayette, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. R.J. worked many years with Orkin, Inc. in Lafayette and Dallas, TX. He also was self-employed in construction and house painting. He put in many years of service with the Lafayette City Fire Department, was co-owner, along with his wife, of Bob's Food Store on Vermillion Street, and finally retired from Wal-Mart with 20 years of service.
