Ruth Sellers Broussard

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 6, 2024 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Chapel of the Flowers for Ruth Sellers Broussard, 93, who passed away on September 3, 2024. Father Gregory Chauvin, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. The burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Ruth, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Essie Sellers and the former Nolia Savoy. Ruth graduated from Mount Carmel High School and soon after met and married her sweetheart, Harvey. She worked as a secretary for many years before beginning her new calling as a mother to her only daughter, Joan. As a wife and mother, Ruth developed a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Ruth faithfully served the St. Jules Parish through various ministries and served as a Eucharistic minister at Lafayette General Hospital for many years. Known for her ease in conversation with even total strangers, Ruth made an impression on anyone who had the joy of meeting her. Her witness of love and faith in the Lord, and her signature gift of joy and kindness, captured the hearts of those around her. Ruth loved visiting and spending time with her many friends and extended family. She especially enjoyed the frequent Broussard family gatherings, camping trips and cousin vacations. In her later years, Ruth poured her love and care into her cherished grandchildren, creating many treasured memories with them. Above all, Ruth was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Broussard Moody and husband, Daniel; granddaughter, Ellen Moody; grandson, Benjamin Moody. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Harvey Lee Broussard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 8:00 AM until the time of service. The family request any donations be made to: St. Jules Catholic Church or The Carmelite Monastery. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care and Laurie Pfeffer, dedicated eucharistic minister. Special thanks are given to Ruth’s devoted caregivers - Sandra Noel, Lamarine Marshall, Alma Meche, Jackie Guidry, Carolyn Guillory, Lou August, and Agnes Sterling, - who provided unwavering love and support to Ruth over the years.
