Ruth Lejeune Daigle

Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 13, 2008 in the Delhomme Chapel in Scott for Ruth Lejeune Daigle, 90, who passed away on December 11, 2008 at Cornerstone Village South. Reverend Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota, Louisiana. Mrs. Daigle, a resident of Scott, was the daughter of the late Emile Lejeune and the former Ida Hebert both of Iota, Louisiana. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She was a spiritial woman and a great and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She was an active member of the Ladies Altar Society, Acadia Parish Home Demonstration Club, St. Joseph's Catholic church in Iota, and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott. She is responsible for the wonderful spark and joie d'vivre she passed on to her children and grandchildren that will continue through the generations. She volunteered weekly at St. Francis Elementary and St. Francis High School for all five children. She was a stringent promoter of all of her children and grandchilren's academic and athletic accomplishments. She loved Cajun music and showed off her dancing talents late into her ninety years of life and won many dance contests in her youth. She played an active role in helping to raise all of her grandchildren, all of whom adored MaMa, and her signature gumbo and her delicious chocolate toast. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Burton and her husband, Wayne of Scott and Susan Daigle Strother and her husband, David of Lafayette; two sons, Mike Daigle and his wife, Susan of St. Louis, Missouri and Steve Daigle and his wife, Ada of Rayne; one daugher-in-law, Johnette Daigle of Lafayette; twenty grandchildren, Dayne Daigle, Duke Daigle, Darla Hebert, Cheramie Burgess, Shannon Daigle, Annie Blazer, Jessie Schwietermann, David Burton, Julie Vincent, Matthew Daigle, Russ Brown, Austin Strother, Caroline Strother, Steven Burke, Brandon Burke and Cindy Burke; eleven great grandchildren, Abigayle Daigle, Annelise Daigle, Keeley Burgess, Laurel Burgess, Shelby Schwietermann, Lizzie Schwietermann, Beatrice Schwietermann, Brody Blazer, Beckett Blazer, Hayes Hebert, Emma Kate Freyou and soon to arrive baby boy Burton; and one brother, Gil Lejeune of New Iberia. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Douglas John Daigle, one brother and four sisters. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Duke Daigle, David Burton, David Strother, Wayne Burton and Russ Brown.
