Shirley Rae Richardson

Mrs. Richardson, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Raymond Hammer and the former Mildred Mott. Sly was a licensed Cosmetologist in the states of Kansas and Missouri for over 52 years. An established makeup artist representing Charles of the Ritz, Borghese and Alexandra deMarkoff. Serving her clientele from the counters of Wormsers of Lafayette, Dillards, both of Lafayette and Woodlands, Texas and Macy's covering 5 states hosting training seminars for associates sharing her talents. A true artisan, mastering, culinary prowess, oil painting, calligraphy, tailoring and design, all facets of needlework, quilting, gardening with a focus on roses and herbs that were used to create her own line of fragrance and skin care products. Sly was also the proprietor of 'Fabulous Fakes' design by Sly, where she created her own line of artificial cakes, confections and pastries, many of which have found their way to the display windows of London. Sly was open to all the world had to offer, seeing beauty and magic in everything that surrounded her. Her love for pastel colors, fairies, angels and all that sparkled created a vivid and wondrous atmosphere in her home and person that welcomed all of those fortunate enough to know and love her. Although she came from the heartland of America she was a full Cajun at heart, believing any bad day could be remedied with a trip to the beach, fresh seafood and a fresh coat of OPI Cajun Shrimp nail polish! 'A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts, not marble.' Formal services will not be held although friends and family are asked to celebrate her life in every bud awaiting bloom and each magical moment encountered. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ward E. Richardson of Lafayette; one daughter, Stacy Comeaux and her husband Keith of Carencro, LA; one son, Craig Richardson of Poplar Bluff, MO; two granddaughters, Mandy Hatman and her husband Joe of Carencro, LA, and Victoria Comeaux of Carencro, LA; and one great granddaughter, Evangeline "Evie" Hatman of Carencro, LA.
