Sylvia Ann "Nana" McQuillin

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Sylvia Ann McQuillin, the former Sylvia Ann Peavy, 72, who passed away peacefully on April 30, 2013 at her residence. Interment will be at the St. John Mausoleum. Father Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Concelebrants will be Father Michael Champagne and Father Bryce Sibley. Sylvia Ann was the daughter of Clarence Peavy and the former Sylvia Bordelon of Simmesport, LA, who both preceded her in death. Sylvia Ann was a native of Simmesport and was in the 1959 graduating class of Simmesport High School. She treasured the wonderful memories and lasting friendships from that time and always enjoyed their lively class reunions. She is survived by her daughter, Roxanne Cecile Breaux, son-in-law, Edward Flynn Breaux, and her grandchildren, Christopher Peavy Breaux, his wife, Taylor, Edward Flynn Breaux, Jr., his wife, Taylor, Lauren Elize Breaux, and William Edgar Breaux. Sylvia Ann, affectionately known as “Nana” to her friends and family, touched many with her true sense of humor and love of people. She lived and loved life to the fullest. Nana adored her four grandchildren and enjoyed following every aspect of their lives. She loved cooking, lively music, gardening and was a very enthusiastic football fan. Nana lived in Springfield, Missouri for many years where she was employed by Prime Trucking Company. For the past 10 years, Nana resided in Lafayette where she worked at Park Place Surgical Hospital and Southern Urology where she was fondly known as “Special Projects Manager.” She loved calling Lafayette her home and cherished the local culture and the many friends who enriched her life. Pallbearers will be Christopher Breaux. Edward Breaux, Jr., William Breaux, Michael Breaux, E. Paul Breaux III, M.D., and Stuart Clark. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bradley Broussard, MacIntyre Bridges, M.D., Eddie Knoll, George L. Mayeaux, John Losavio, Jeff Budden, M.D., Richard Broussard, M.D., James Bienvenu, M.D., Carl Breaux, D.D.S., Charles Peavy, Jr., Walter Moreau, Pete Pepiton III, and Paul Pepiton. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visiting hours will continue Friday, May 3, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon.
