Willie Myers

Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church for Willie Myers, Jr., 78, who passed away at Lafayette General Medical Center. Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Mr. Myers, a resident of Scott, LA, was the son of the late Willie Myers, Sr. of Grand Coteau, Louisiana and the former Marie Knott of Arnaudville, Louisiana. Willie was employed by the Lafayette Sheriff's Department where he retired as Captain after having worked there for 24 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hazel Dugas Myers; two daughters, Sherry Myers Mouton and husband Greg Mouton and Rachelle Myers Beasley and husband Jeramie Beasley; one son; Raphael Myers, Sr. and wife Mary Prejean Myers; seven grandchildren, Raphael Myers, Jr., Gabriel Myers, Naomi Mouton, Jeremy Mouton, Heath Mouton, Sr., Raven Beasley and Brayden Beasley; six great grandchildren, Jaydlon Mouton, Autumn St. Ann, Summer St. Ann, Rayne Mouton, Rose Mouton and Heath Mouton, Jr. all of Scott, LA; three sisters, Ezar Mouton of Lafayette, LA, Ruby Fowler and husband Lowell Fowler of Ohio and Joyce Trahan of Port Barre, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Emile, Ashton, Antoine, Weston and Milton Myers; one sister, Hazel Myers Mouton and one great granddaughter, Ashton Mouton. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Scott on Tuesday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at 8:00 am until the time of services. Pallbearers will be Raphael Myers, Sr., Gabriel Myers, Greg Mouton, Jeremy Mouton, Heath Mouton, Sr. and Jeramie Beasley. Honorary pallbearer will be Raphael Myers, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Myers name to Hospice of Acadiana at 2600 Johnston Street, Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
